After fans spent months campaigning for Levar Burton to become the next host of Jeopardy!, the Grammy and Emmy-award winner’s dream job is coming true! The Reading Rainbow and Roots star will join a roster of celebs who will close out the show’s 37th season in wake of Alex Trebek’s passing.

An “overjoyed” and “excited” LeVar shared the good news on Twitter and thanked Joshua Sanders for starting the Change.org petition that garnered over 246,000 signatures in support of Burton hosting the show.

Executive Producer Mike Richards reinforced the importance of having a diverse lineup of guest hosts who will bring “individualism, energy and an authentic love” to the show, Variety reports.

“Our goal has been to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skill sets and backgrounds on our path to finding a permanent host,” said Mike—adding that “our passionate fans are telling us what they like, and we are listening.”
