After a tumultuous battle with pancreatic cancer, the legendary life of beloved Jeopardy host Alex Trebek came to a close on Sunday at the age of 80. The long-time trivia show shared the devastating news on Twitter, reassuring fans that he was surrounded by his love ones during his peaceful passing.

Alek Trebek, who hosted Jeopardy for 37 years, was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2019. In celebration of the one-year anniversary of his diagnosis, Alex shared an update on his progress—elated that he beat the odds and “reached that marker” for a one-year survival rate of 18%.
