It looks like Will Smith and Janet Hubert’s 27-year-old beef is over! The two had a candid conversation on HBO Max’s The Fresh Prince Reunion, and to say it pulled at our heartstrings is quite an understatement.
During Will and Janet’s heart-to-heart, the O.G. Aunt Viv got some things off her chest, including how she was labeled when she left the sitcom and how it impacted her career.
“I understand you were able to move forward but you know those words calling a black woman ‘difficult’ in Hollywood is the kiss of death,” Janet shared—adding that “It’s hard enough being dark-skinned black woman in this business.”
Will and Janet put their volatile history to bed with shared tears and apologies, and for the first time ever, Janet met the second Aunt Viv, Daphne Maxwell Reid—both welcoming each other with a warm embrace before Janet reunited with the rest of the cast. Of course, the Banks family paid homage to their beloved TV dad, James Avery, who sadly passed away in 2013.
