“We did it, Joe!”
Fulfilling his promise to select a woman as his running mate, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris make history as they’re sworn in as 46th President and Vice-President during today’s monumental Inauguration! Harris is now the first woman and person of color to become Vice President of the United States.
Today, we begin anew. Tune in for #Inauguration2021. https://t.co/HxfU8q5riA

Following tradition, Biden and Harris were accompanied by their respective spouses, now First Lady Jill Biden and First Gentlemen, Doug Emhoff. Both the President and Vice President wore looks from American designers—Joe Biden in Ralph Lauren and Kamala draped in a purple ensemble designed by Black designers Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson as a nod to Shirley Chisholm, the first woman and woman of color to run for president in 1972.
Celebrities such as our very own Porsha Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Kimmel, Rosario Dawson, and more took to social media to share their thoughts on today’s history-making ceremony.
Sooooo much work to do. But TODAY I want to celebrate. And pray. And revel in our tremendous power (even against all odds) to make history happen.
