Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from The Royal Family last March and most recently, stripped of their royal patronages per Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry reveals why he broke away from Buckingham Palace. In a laidback conversation with The Late Late Show’s James Corden, Prince Harry spilled the royal tea on why he had to get his family out of the U.K.
“We all know what the British press can be like and it was destroying my mental health. I was like, ‘This is toxic.'” Harry shared—adding, “So I did what any husband and any father would do. I was like, ‘I need to get my family out of here.'”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the shocking announcement to step back from their royal duties last March. And just last week, Buckingham palace published a statement that confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t return as working royals.

While continuing his candid convo with Corden, Prince Harry set the record straight on his departure from Buckingham Palace. “I never walked away,” he told Corden—assuring that he’ll always contribute to a life of public service wherever his family goes. The same sentiments were mirrored in Meghan and Prince Harry’s statement last week, which seemed to ruffle the feathers of The Royal Family. “We can all live a life of service. Service is universal,” their statement read—to which Prince William found to be “insulting and disrespectful.”
