Our girl Sherri Shepherd says spending time in jail taught her a very valuable life lesson.
The tv talk show host told Page Six that early in her career in the ’90s she went to jail for 8 days for having $10,000 unpaid parking tickets. However, despite being locked up, Sherri had an enlightening moment with an unknown woman who was also serving jail time.
“One of the girls in jail said, ‘Leave Sherri alone because she’s gonna be somebody and we are going to be here for the rest of our lives.’ Literally that’s what she used to say,” Shepherd said. “Her name was Shelby and she came to both my weddings when I got out. But sometimes people see things in you that you don’t see yourself, and when she said those words, ‘Sherri is gonna be somebody,’ I never thought that for myself.
In addition to meeting the stranger in jail, who is now a life-long friend of hers, Sherri learned to pay all of her bills on time. #DishFam, what do you think about this?
