Depp sued Amber for $50 million after she published an op-ed in The Washington Post about “domestic abuse”, which did not name Johnny specifically, but was assumed to be about their tumultuous marriage. Amber then countersued Johnny for $100 million for defamation. Both Johnny and Amber, who married in February 2015 and divorced in January 2017, gave testimonies in the trial, along with dozen of witness accounts.
