It looks like Britney Spears’ dad Jamie Spears wants to be richer than yesterday according to the “Gimme More” singer’s lawyers!
In a not-so-shocking turn of events in Britney’s chaotic conservatorship case, her legal team claims Jamie wants $2 million before stepping down as her conservator per court documents filed on Monday, Page Six reports. However, Britney’s attorney Matthew Rosengart shutdown the “extortion” attempt, emphasizing that his client “will not be bullied or extorted” in exchange for Jamie stepping down as her conservator.
“Mr Spears’s blatant attempt to barter suspension and removal in exchange for approximately $2 million in payments, on top of the millions already reaped from Ms Spears’s estate by Mr Spears and his associates, is a non-starter,” Rosengart’s statement read, per The Guardian.
“The world heard Ms. Spears’s courageous and compelling testimony. Britney Spears’s life matters. Her well-being matters. Every day matters. There is no basis to wait,” the statement continued—urging the court to forfeit Jamie’s control of her finances at the upcoming September 29th hearing.
Just last month, Jamie Spears agreed to give up his conservator role and provide the court with “accurate and substantiated facts” to ensure a smooth transition of conservatorship.
