Chrissy Teigen and John Legend broke all of our hearts when they announced the loss of their 3rd child. Chrissy was admitted to the hospital on September 28th after experiencing constant heavy bleeding for the past month, and despite blood transfusions and efforts to stop it, baby Jack did not survive. The Chrissy’s Court star shared a heartbreaking Instagram post with a series of black-and-white photos that captured their “darkest of days.”
We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
In the post, Chrissy shared that although she and John don’t usually name their kids until right before they leave the hospital, ‘Jack’ seemed fitting and the two naturally settled on the name.
We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.
Chrissy then shared a heartfelt message to their unborn son, Jack.
To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.
In 2018, Chrissy opened up to People about using IVF for her first two children, Luna and Miles, and not being able to “fathom” the thought of conceiving naturally—which explains Chrissy and John’s initial reactions to their 3rd pregnancy.
