Britney Spears is on “cloud nine” right now after her father Jamie Spears was suspended as her conservator and so are her #freebritney followers, including her fellow celebrity supporters! In a court hearing yesterday, the judge officially suspended Jamie’s role as her conservatorship, which he’s held down since 2008, because the “current situation is not tenable,” The New York Times reports.
Although Britney is officially free from her father’s control, she remains under a conservatorship with her legal team-appointed accountant, John Zabel, as it’s “in the best interest of the conservatee,” Judge Brenda Penny ruled in the hearing. Despite Britney still being under a conservatorship, her lawyer Mathew Rosengart said it’s his “hope and expectation” that this is temporary and will ultimately be eliminated at the November 12th hearing requested by her legal team, BBC News reports.
Celebrities such as Cher, Bette Midler, Dionne Warwick, and more took to social media to share Britney’s excitement for the new conservatorship ruling.

At this beginning of September, Britney’s legal team made claims that Jamie wanted $2 million before stepping down as her conservator per court documents were filed, Page Six reported. However, Britney’s attorney Matthew Rosengart shut down the “extortion” attempt, emphasizing that his client “will not be bullied or extorted” in exchange for Jamie stepping down as her conservator.
