Carlee Russell Comes Clean About Faking Her Abduction—Says She Made a “Mistake” in Statement Released by Attorney

Carlee Russell, who went missing on July 13th and was gone for 48 hours, admits to faking her own kidnapping. An official statement released by Carlee’s attorney was read by Chief Nick Derzis during a Hoover Police Department press conference where she admitted to lying about the abduction. ⁠

“There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13, 2023. [Carlee] did not see a baby on the side of the road. [Carlee] did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person. [Carlee] did not have any help in this incident as this was a single act done by [Carlee],” the statement read.

Additionally, Carlee said she acted solo on her own accord and didn’t stay at a hotel as rumored, and she asked the public for forgiveness and prayers.
