Anne Heche is spillin’ some nostalgic tea about her former romance with TV talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres. In an interview with Mr. Warburton magazine, Anne said that their 3-year relationship (1997-2000) that she wears “with honor,” was “a beautiful part of my life.”
“I was a part of a revolution that created social change, and I could not have done that without falling in love with her,” Anne told the outlet.
DeGeneres officially came out on her Ellen sitcom in 1997 while dating Anne, which is believed to have attributed to the cancelation of the series. Anne dished on how the two received backlash for their highly controversial relationship, including the time she brought Ellen as her date to the Volcano premiere.
“I was told by Fox Studio executives that if I brought Ellen to the premiere, my contract would be terminated,” Anne shared. “I brought Ellen despite those threats, and we were escorted out of the theater before the lights came on by security and not allowed to attend the premiere party because they did not want any photos of us together.”
When asked about Ellen’s recent toxic work culture allegations, Anne said although she hasn’t spoken to Ellen in years, she’d “listen to the people who have.”
