Boseman, a native South Carolinian and Howard University graduate, was best known for his historical portrayals such as his breakout role as Jackie Robinson in “42” (2013), James Brown in “Get On Up” (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall” (2017). But he would book an influential role of a lifetime as T’Challa in Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” which broke a number of records including the top-grossing superhero film of all time in the US.
