Dawn Richards spilled some tea on her Danity Kane days and how Diddy’s “aggressive” tactics to “toughen up” the “Making The Band” girl group wouldn’t stand in this #MeToo climate.
“He would bring us in the room and say, ‘You’re ugly. You gotta fix your face.’ Wild stuff. But he was preparing us for what the industry would be,” Dawn dished on the Wild Wayne Unchained podcast. “But if we would have done what we did in this time, Puff would have been crucified. Because you can’t talk to women now—like the levels of what he was saying, it was aggressive. It was really aggressive. It was crazy.”
Despite Diddy’s unorthodox ways, Dawn expressed her appreciation for him. “Puff, it was not all great, but man did he teach me to have the tools to be ready; lessons, bread crumbs that I will take,” she dished.
After Danity Kane disbanded, Dawn Richards went on to form trio Dirty Money with Diddy and Kalenna Harper. She’s still making music as a solo artist with albums like Blackheart (2015), Redemption Heart (2016) and New Breed (2019).
