Was Drew Barrymore Disrespectful By Saying VP Kamala Harris Needs to be the “Momala of the Country?”
Thursday, May 2, 2024
Drew Barrymore draws backlash after saying Vice President Kamala Harris needs to be the “Momala of the Country.”
While on The Drew Barrymore Show, the VP chatted about her life with her husband Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and being a stepmom to their two kids. VP Harris mentioned that her stepkids call her “Momala” instead of “step” because “it’s just not fair to [children] to put them in a situation where, intentionally or not, they are being manipulated around the adults’ weird relationships with each other. You have to sort that out,” she explained to Drew. Drew responded with, “I’ve been thinking that we really all need a tremendous hug in the world right now. But in our country, we need you to be ‘Momala’ of the country.”
Some people described that interaction, and the interview as a whole, as “cringe” and even celebs, like Meghan McCain, sounded off on Drew’s “inappropriate” and intimate interviewing style.
“I know that’s Drew Barrymore’s thing, but someone needs to talk to her. Not everything you do is a therapy session, and some of this stuff is just not appropriate,” Meghan said on her podcast.
#DishFam, do you think Drew disrespected VP Kamala Harris? Let’s discuss.
