VIOLA DAVIS’ DAUGHTER HAS ONE RULE FOR PLAYING DRESS UP
Friday, Dec 22, 2017
Viola Davis is all for her daughter emulating her favorite superheroes or animated princesses, but only under one condition.
The How to Get Away With Murder star wants her six-year-old to grow up loving herself for who she is and therefore insists that she wear her natural hair when playing dress up.
“I say, ‘You gotta wear your hair exactly the way it is. You can be Wonder Woman, but you gotta be Wonder Woman with your hair. You can be Elsa, but you gotta be Elsa with your hair,’” she told Yahoo.
The 52-year-old revealed how she grew up wanting the hair and bodies of other famous women and wants to send a different message to her daughter.
”I really push it. I push it. You can do all of that stuff if you start with the palette of loving who you are.”
It’s a lesson the Oscar winner wished she had learned growing up.
“If someone had told me that just time and time again, oh, my God! I would’ve had a completely different childhood. And my childhood was good, even with all the pain and poverty. But it would’ve been even better.”
