Usher had it BAD when it came to his breakup with his ex, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas.
In a new People Magazine cover story, the R&B crooner revealed he and Chilli, who dated for 3 years and had a 7-year age difference, just weren’t on the same page. He told the outlet, “I was a young man, and she had very specific rules that didn’t work for me,”—adding, “I wanted to marry her. I proposed and she told me no. I went through a great deal of pain after that.” However the heartbreak wasn’t one-sided as he admitted to hurting her as well.

Despite their respective heartbreaks, Usher said the two are now “cool” with each other. Usher just married his longtime partner Jennifer Goicoechea over the weekend, and Chilli is currently in a relationship with Matthew Lawrence.
