It looks like karma came for The Tinder Swindler, Simon Leviev!
Leviev, who scammed multiple women out of more than $10 million, reportedly had the tables turned on him by a woman who pretended to be the girlfriend of an employee of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, TMZ reports. According to an insider, the woman slid in Simon’s DMs claiming she could help him get verified on Instagram through her boyfriend.
The woman’s boyfriend went to great lengths to prove he actually worked for Meta, staging himself in a busy office with employees walking around in the background while Simon was Facetiming him. After requesting a $6,664 payment to get him verified on Instagram, the Tinder Swindler sent the woman’s boyfriend two payments via PayPal—one to the Meta boyfriend and one to his alleged girlfriend.
Simon’s manager found the whole ordeal suspicious and reached out to a real Meta employee who confirmed they don’t charge for Instagram verifications. However, it was too little too late because the woman and her alleged boyfriend pulled a “Simon Leviev” and went ghost, deleting all their Instagram accounts!
A true-crime Netflix documentary about Simon’s scamming ways premiered on the streaming service on February 2nd, chronicling the way he swindled countless women out of money and ghosted them after. In 2019, the serial swindler was charged with fraud, theft, and forgery, and served a 15-month sentence for his crimes.
