The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation (SMHF) hosted their 5th annual gala at the Hilton Chicago on May 16 and while the famous couple were slated to host, Dish Nation has exclusively learned they had to miss the event due to a family emergency.
According to a source close to the event, Steve‘s step-daughter, 18-year-old Lori, was involved in an equestrian riding accident and was thrown from her horse in Lexington, Kentucky.
Instead of boarding their plane to Chicago, Steve and Marjorie didn’t hesitate to divert their trip to be by their daughter’s side at the hospital where she’s receiving treatment.
“Fortunately, Lori is expected to make a full and complete recovery,” the insider told Dish.
Meanwhile, Steve’s daughter Karli Harvey, 33 — whose twin sister Brandi produced the events — stepped in for her famous father alongside event emcee and Today show host Tamron Hall to host the evening’s program.
With a packed house of more than 400 VIP guests and supporters of their charity — including famous faces like Dwyane Wade, Holly Robinson Peete, Chicago Bears star Matt Forte — more than $1 million was raised to support the foundation’s work of serving young adults through mentorship programs and camps.
