Rapper Tory Lanez has finally broken his silence since Megan Thee Stallion accused him of shooting her in her feet back in July. After Tory apologized for his silence on Twitter and insinuated that he’d be speaking out about the allegations, fans thought he would approach the situation via an Instagram Live or something similar. However, when Tory adamantly denied allegations and defended his position by dropping a 17-track album entitled Daystar, some were left scratching their heads at his intentions and timing.

In lyrics from the opening track “Money Over Fallouts”, Tory said “Megan people tryna frame me for a shootin'”—not only adamantly denying that he shot Megan Thee Stallion, but also questioning her injuries.
“Gotta see a couple questions: how the f*** you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons?,” Tory continues.
Tory also insinuated that Megan wrote a false statement on an affidavit with the lyrics “Girl, you had the nerve to write that statement on that affidavit/Knowin’ I ain’t do it”. He also encouraged fans to “please don’t listen to the rumors that they try alludin'” in another track called “In The Air”—adding that “I’ve never hit no woman, why the f*** would I just do this?”
In the song “Queen and Slim”, Tory addressed rumors that his rift with Megan started because Tory was flirting with Kylie Jenner at a party the three attended just hours before the shooting.
Me and Kylie still off in the pool/We just chillin’, kickin’ shit, was cool/Both of us didn’t know you was trippin’/ Even though I got a crush on Kylie, I woulda left with you if I knew you was dippin’ for the simple reason/You invited me but I can’t act like shawty didn’t excite me..”
Tory goes on to name-drop Megan throughout the album and allude to her while detailing an intimate relationship with a woman in “Friends Become Strangers”, “Solar Drive @ Night” and “Bittersweet”. He also called out JoJo and Kehlani, who both removed him from their albums, and DreamDoll and Asian Doll who came to Megan’s defense.
Many people questioned the timing and intention of Tory’s new project, accusing him of exploiting Megan Thee Stallion for his own personal gain and dropping the album right after the Breonna Taylor verdict.

The shooting occurred on July 12 after Tory and Megan left a Hollywood Hills party. Just weeks after the shooting, Megan confirmed Tory as the shooter on Instagram Live— detailing the events leading up to it. Tory was arrested the same night for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle but was later released on a $35,000 bond.
