Sometimes a violation of principle will make you put on your petty boots, and no one knows that better than TV producer and screenwriter extraordinaire, Shonda Rhimes! After 15 years of creating hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder, and Scandal for ABC (owned by Disney) and reportedly making more than $2 billion for the network, Shonda finally came to a $154 breaking point!
Shonda shared with The Hollywood Reporter that as a Disney employee, contractually she had an all-inclusive pass for her and a second for her nanny. But since passes are not interchangeable, ABC gave her a hard time when she asked for another pass for her sister. After much back and forth, ABC gave her the pass but it didn’t work when her sister arrived at the park with her kids.
When Shonda called an ABC exec about the botched pass, they replied with “don’t you have $154 dollars for a ticket?” Rightfully pissed, Shonda immediately called her lawyer to make the move to Netflix and inked a $300 million deal later that year.
Do you think Shonda was being “petty boots” or she had a right to raise hell about the Disneyland pass?
