TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, who dated Usher from 2001-2004, recently and exclusively told People Magazine that she and the “U Got it Bad” crooner just couldn’t get over each other and didn’t cut off communication until 2019—nearly 15 years after they broke up.

“We definitely had some chemistry,” Chill told the media outlet about Usher. “But working chemistry does not mean it works in your personal life. If we were working, it was great. But outside of that, we’re so different.” She added that, “I love hard” and, “I was like, ‘God, why can’t I get over this?’ He couldn’t either.”

Although Chilli revealed she and Usher would reconnect off-and-on while they weren’t in relationships with others, she said she ultimately cut off all contact with the R&B crooner in 2019 so she could focus on herself, and stopped dating altogether.

“I even stopped dating. Because before that I thought if I met the right guy during that time that I wasn’t over it wouldn’t work. I would never want to straddle the fence.”

Usher was married to Tameka Foster from ’07-09 and again to Grace Harry from 2015-2018. Chilli who has been dating Matthew Lawrence for nearly a year, said “I have never experienced anything like this,” in reference to her current relationship.
