Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards were nothing short of glitz, glamour and a lot of gold—perfectly fitting for the fearless women who commanded the stage and award categories alike. Girl power was in full effect and we were here for it!
New mom Cardi B. led with 10 nominations and walked away with 3 awards—Best New Artist, Best Collaboration and the Song of the Summer.Queen rapper Nicki Minaj,known for her off-the-cuff VMA moments,snagged the first award of the night for Best Hip-hop followed by an epic performance at the Oculus.
New artist Camila Cabello had the honor of receivingArtist of the Year and was presented with Video of the Year from the “Queen of Pop” herself, Madonna.‘Madge’ also presented a tribute to our beloved Aretha Franklin…well, kind of. Not only did Ariana Grande win Best Pop Video,she also showed us why “God Is A Woman” with a sultry all-female performance.
Hayley Kiyoko won Push Artist of the Year during her first appearance at the VMAs.And last but not least, Jennifer Lopez was the first Latin artist to receive the coveted Michael Jackson Vanguard award after a fiery performance of her greatest hits.
