Whitney Houston’s best friend and rumored long-time lover, Robyn Crawford, reveals when she and the late icon first fell in love in her new memoir, A Song For You: My Life with Whitney Houston. What started as a “deep friendship” back in 1980, when Robyn was 19 and Whitney 17-years-old, quickly blossomed into a romance that would last for years.
“The physical part of our friendship happened along the way and it was just as beautiful,” Robyn revealed in her memoir—adding that “we were on a journey together and and we were connected.”

Although the two “meant everything to each other” and ” vowed to stand by each other,” their relationship would soon succumb to the pressures of their current climate and from Whitney’s family—specifically from her mom Cissy Houston who adamantly believed “it wasn’t natural for two women to be that close,” Robyn shared.
