According to a Entertainment Tonight, a source has revealed that all the ABC execs have been in communication with Lowe’s reps about him taking on the big gig. It would make sense considering the network contemplated giving him the role back in 2012 when he co-hosted with Ripa for two days. However, they ultimately chose Michael Strahan.
An interesting part in all of this is that Rob is TOTALLY willing to do it, where as in 2012 it wasn’t convenient for him.
“I hosted it with Kelly and had the time of my life. I love her … I love being able to talk to an audience every morning like that and just being fun, counter-punching, being silly, and talking about cool stuff.”
And why would now be the right time for him to take on such a big role? His kids aren’t in the house anymore! Both of Rob’s sons, Matthew & John, are in college, leaving Dad with lots of free time! Not to mention Rob’s latest project, The Grinder, was unfortunately cancelled.
“My kids are out of the house, they weren’t then. Who knows … I don’t know if I’m going to go back as an actual guest host yet. … You never know! You never know.”
