REMATCH OF THE R&B KINGS! TEDDY RILEY & BABYFACE ‘BREAK THE INTERNET’ WITH EPIC INSTAGRAM LIVE BATTLE
Tuesday, Apr 21, 2020

It’s the rematch we were all waiting for! Teddy Riley and Babyface went hit-for-hit during a legendary IG Live battle last night that broke the internet so bad, Verzuz creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz couldn’t even join their own party!

The first failed mission that happened on Saturday was nothing short of technical difficulties, “if doing too much was a person” and a slew of memes to last us all year. However, despite a few Instagram glitches, the two hitmakers managed to make musical magic on Monday for a night of ’90s nostalgic! Some of the virtual house party attendees included stars like Michelle Obama, Anthony Anderson, Tyrese, 2 Chainz, Missy Elliott, Diddy, Pharrell and much more.

Decked in a velvet blazer in a candle-lit room with Grammys as studio decor, Babyface was the epitome of sophistication—and Prince-level shade—with some of his smoothest hits like Toni Braxton’s “High” and “Love Shoulda Brought You Home,” ’90s heart throb Tevin Campbell’s “Can We Talk” and “I’m Ready,” and TLC’s “Red Light Special.”  He even blessed us with a live acoustic version of “When Can I See You Again” that may have broken the “no instruments” rule.

Teddy Riley, who was seemingly ready for a boxing match with a “tile” draped around his neck (shoutout to Tyrese’s typo from Saturday’s debacle), stayed true to his New Jack Swing swag with Johnny Kemp’s “Just Got Paid” and Keith Sweat’s “I Want Her.” He even sprinkled in some versatility with Guy’s “Let’s Chill,” SWV’s “Right Here,” Janet Jackson’s “I Get So Lonely” and Hi-Five’s “I Like The Way (Kissing Game).

All-in-all, the collective chalked this up as a win for the culture!
