Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was a reality show that ran from 2003 to 2007. The cast included five gay men who referred to themselves as the “Fab Five”: Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley, and Jai Rodriguez. They worked to transform the lives of drab straight men who were in dire need of a life makeover.
Sadly, the original Fab Five will not be joining the new reboot so there is no guarantee the new five will be “fab.”
And we’re biased because we love us some Carson Kressley. Carson responded to the news:
“There’s really never a way to recreate that same magic, so it’ll be a different kind of magic. We had, y’know, it was a great time, because people were like, ‘ooh, the gays, hmm, I don’t know, let’s see what they’re about!’ So it’s kind of voyeuristic and now I hope we’re a little more advanced. It was such a such an amazing experience for me, that I was thinking, wouldn’t it be great to ‘gay it forward’ and have somebody else get that amazing experience? And make their career and change their life and have the time of their life? So I wish nothing but good for the new team.”
Since we can’t have Carson… can we have Gary? Do you think he has what it takes?
