Former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away April 17 at the age of 92. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, President George H. W. Bush, five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Dignitaries from around the world and nation are expected to attend, including 4 former presidents.
President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, and President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
First Lady Melania Trump will also be at the service, but President Donald Trump is unable to attend.
St. Martin’s is the family church of the Bush family. President Bush and Barbara have been devoted members since the early 1950s.
Saturday afternoon, Barbara Bush will be interred at Texas A&M University on the grounds of the George H.W. Bush Library and Museum. She will be buried beside her daughter, Pauline Robin Bush, who passed away at the age of three in 1953 after battling leukemia.
Barbara Bush was an integral part of the library for more than 25 years and her passion for reading was well-known.
In lieu of flowers, the Bush family requests donations be made to the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, which opened in 1989 and works to boost literacy among parents and their children.
