Former Jonas Brothers member turned solo artist Nick Jonas stopped by the Dish Nation studio recently to chat about his new self-titled album — plus, Jonas calls an exchange with Jennifer Lopez a “dream come true.”
“JLo tweeted me the other day. Dream come true,” he said. “She just said she loved ‘Jealous.'”
But Nick says he played it cool, waiting to tweet back to the mega-star.
“I was in the car with a couple friends, saw the tweet and I was like, ‘Oh, ah, JLo just tweeted me,'” Nick said, admitting he simply wrote her back, “Thanks JLo.”
Do you think his girlfriend, Miss USA 2012 winner Olivia Culpo, was “jealous”?
Nick’s first solo album releases in November and he tells Dish Nation it has a pretty heavy R&B vibe.
“It’s got some classic soul, R&B influences. Stevie Wonder, Prince, those are my older influences,” he said, but don’t expect him to cut a rug in his concerts.
“I don’t really dance… For some reason a lot of people thought we danced, but we did not. I did some dancing with Broadway stuff that I did, and this time I’ve got two really great backup singers who also dance.”
Joe and Kevin?
“We do this one sort of breakout session…it’s kind of like an Earth, Wind & Fire vibe actually.”
In an effort to break his “baby Jonas Brother” reputation, Nick recently stripped down to his skimpies for a spread in Flaunt magazine, leading Dish Nation to wonder how he’d feel about a role in ‘Magic Mike XXL.’
“I don’t now, that’s a lot,” he said. “Why couldn’t Nick Jonas? That’s a good question. McConaughey did it and then he won an Oscar. That’s how it works. You do Magic Mike, Oscar!”
And believe it or not, Nick actually thinks his older brother Kevin is going to be the most successful brother in the family — and points to his appearance as Kathy Wakile’s contractor on ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ as a great example.
“Kevin is gonna be the most successful Jonas because he’s really business savvy and he’s got his hand in a bunch of different things,” Nick told Dish Nation.
