Comedian Mo’Nique no longer wants an “open marriage” with her husband, Sidney Hicks.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mo’Nique shared that although the open marriage was originally her idea, she and her hubby want to ditch the lifestyle completely. She said she “grew out of that,” and since Sidney has loved her unconditionally at her worst, she “didn’t want to sacrifice that just for a lay.”
“Life began to happen,” she says. “I began to see a strength I had never seen before. He loved me at my worst. I didn’t want to sacrifice that just for a lay. So I grew out of that,” she explained.
Mo’Nique and her husband are high school sweethearts who met in the 10th grade at Baltimore’s Randallstown High School. Although the relationship was platonic at first, Sidney kissed her 16 years ago and the comedian said they’ve been inseparable ever since! They share 17-year-old twins together, Jonathan and David Hicks.
