The Royals have gone rogue!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry—who “stepped back” from the royal family last year to blaze their own trail—are officially breaking tradition and will not return to Buckingham Palace as working royals, the Royal estate shared in an official statement.
“Following conversations with the duke, the Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of the royal family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service,” the statement read.

Although Meghan and Prince Harry are still “loved members of the family,” Buckingham acknowledged that it’s impossible for the married couple to “continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.” As a result, the Royal patronages of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be revoked and “redistributed among working members of The Royal Family.”
Since separating from The Royal Family, Meghan and Prince Harry—who most recently revealed they’re expecting a second child—relocated to sunny California to build their own brand, Royal Sussex. They also signed with an agent to secure speaking engagements and procured a production deal with Netflix.
