Madonna may be a cougar, but her daughter Lourdes Ciccone Leon is set on becoming a Wolverine!
It looks like the Material Girl has finally convinced Lourdes to attend the University of Michigan — the school Madonna famously dropped out of to seek fame and fortune in New York City.
“Lourdes really had no desire to follow in her mother’s footsteps,” a source close to the 18-year-old designer and actress told Dish Nation. “But after doing tons of research and checking out many schools she finally decided the University of Michigan was the best fit for her. Lourdes is serious about her education and wants to create her own path, but she realizes comparisons to her mom are inevitable. She just wants to go to school and be taken seriously. That’s why she’s given her headline-making mom one cardinal rule that must be followed — NO campus visits — EVER!”
The mother-daughter duo tried to check out the university last year, but once word got out that the famous alum was on campus, all hell broke loose.
The attention Madonna received made Lourdes think twice about enrolling in the university her mother attended for 2 years, but she realized that happens wherever her mom goes.
Back in 2012 the “Express Yourself” singer made no bones about where she wanted Lourdes to spend her crucial college years.
“I want my daughter to go to school there,” Madonna told a reporter. “I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.”
Lourdes, who played Rizzo in her high school production of “Grease,” has enrolled in the university’s musical theater program.
“Madonna’s so proud of Lourdes,” adds the source. “She only had two pieces of advice — have fun and DON’T drop out.”
