Kim Kardashian is going to bat for her husband Kanye West by breaking her silence on his current bipolar episode. After his concerning presidential rally in South Carolina and subsequent tweetstorms, The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who’s never spoken about Kanye’s condition to protect his privacy, took to Instagram to clear up some misconceptions about her husband’s mental health condition.
“As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” Kim said in her Instagram story. As a means to protect her children and Kanye’s right to privacy, she admits that she’s never spoken publicly about how his condition affects their family, who seemingly feels “powerless” when Kanye won’t accept help.
“People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”
Her statement comes hours after Kanye’s latest tweetstorm where he claimed Kim and Kris Jenner, whom he referred to as Kris Jong-Un, flew in with doctors to lock him up. In a since-deleted tweet, he also claimed he’s been trying to divorce Kim since she met with Meek Mill at the Waldorf to discuss prison reform. Although Kim allegedly met with divorce lawyers following Kanye’s presidential rally, US Weekly reports, Kim did not address it in her statement.
