Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr is here for Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track “Not Like Us” to be eligible for a Grammy.
Per a TMZ Hip-Hop exclusive, the CEO said Kendrick’s Drake diss exhibits “amazing artistry, great writing” and he doesn’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be eligible because the academy “appreciates greatness.”
“Obviously it’s a hot record,” Mason told the outlet. “Amazing artistry, great writing. The talent on that record is incredible. … Kendrick obviously has been successful with the organization so I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be. It’s all about the quality of the record. It’s about the members. If the members like it, it’ll be nominated.”
When asked about a potential diss track category, Mason said if the members want it, they’ll add it.
This isn’t Kendrick’s first Grammys rodeo show as he currently holds 17 wins out of 47 nominations. Dish Fam, do you think “Not Like Us” should be eligible for a Grammy?
