Jay-Z may have 99 problems but his finances ain’t one!
The rap mogul has just snatched the throne from Diddyto be named Forbes’ wealthiest hip hop artist of 2018.
After Diddy’s seven-year run at #1, Jay-Z overtakes the “It’s All About the Benjamins” singer with an estimated $900 million fortune. Hova’s wealth stems from his Roc Nation empire, Tidal music streaming service and his interests in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac.
But don’t be feeling bad for Diddy as he lands safely in the second spot with $810 million. The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy has taken a hit on his Ciroc vodka and Revolt TV media company, but has seen lots of growth with his DeLeon tequila. Cheers!
Dr. Dre comes in third with $770 million as he’s still enjoying dividends from
Apple’s $3 billion buyout of Beats by Dre line in 2014.
Rounding out the top five is a tie between Eminem and Drake with $100 million a piece. God’s plan, indeed!
Here’s hoping next year finally sees a woman make the top 5. Come through, Nicki Minaj!
