The 47-year-old finally addressed how he feels about Kanye’s on-stage rants where he lashed out at Beyonce and complained that their kids never play together.
“What really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kids and my wife into it,” the “Empire State of Mind” rapper told Rap Radar. “Kanye’s my little brother. He’s talked about me 100 times. He made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”
And while Jay revealed he and Kanye have had arguments in the past, this was different.
“He knows that he crossed the line,” Jay-Z said. “I know him. He knows. I know he knows, because we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements, and we’ve had many, because that’s who we are. That’s what I like about him. He’s an honest person, he’s open and he’ll say things and he’s wrong a lot of times and he’ll confront it.”
The “99 Problems” singer then talked honestly about that infamous elevator fight with Solange after the 2014 Met Gala and says he and Bey’s sister are all good now.
“We’ve always had a great relationship… We’ve had one disagreement. Before and after, we’ve been cool,” he declared. “That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law, no, my sister. Period.”
He went further and gave Solange props for her musical talents and how he feels she’s been underestimated in the industry.
“I think we went into the elevator as great artists,” Jay-Z continued. “I’ve always loved Solange’s music. I think she was slept on until this last album.”
