Janelle Monae has publicly come out of the closet for the first time.

The singer and actress opened up about her sexuality in a new Rolling Stone cover story.

“Being a queer black woman in America,” she says, taking a breath as she comes out, “someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherf****r.”

The Hidden Figures star initially identified as bisexual, she now sees herself as pansexual, or open to anyone regardless of biological sex, gender, or gender identity.

She continued: “Later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”

While the 32-year-old Moonlight actress may be discussing her orientation, she still is keeping a tight lip on her romantic life.

Rumors have linked her to Westworld & Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson, who recently appeared in her “Make Me Feel” and “PYNK” videos, but neither has commented on their relationship status.

For now Monae is busy readying the release of her new album Dirty Computer, which is dedicated to to LGBT community and anyone struggling with their identity.

“I want young girls, young boys, nonbinary, gay, straight, queer people who are having a hard time dealing with their sexuality, dealing with feeling ostracized or bullied for just being their unique selves, to know that I see you,” she told the magazine. “This album is for you. Be proud.”

Preach, Queen!
