DISH NATION’s J-Si (Jose Chavez) is part of the Dallas-based The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show radio show team, which is syndicated in over 75 markets, and also includes Kellie Rasberry, Big Al Mack (Alaric Mack) and Jenna Owens.
J-Si (pronounced J-SEE) was born in Mexico City and moved to San Diego, Calif. when he was eight-years-old. He attended Mt. Carmel High School (fun fact: “American Idol” alumni Adam Lambert was a fellow schoolmate!) where he played football. After graduating, he went on to attend San Diego State University. That year, the World Cup inspired him to try intramural soccer (aka Futball), but he soon discovered it was best he stick to American Football.
Although J-Si originally wanted to become a nurse (both of his grandfathers are doctors), life would have a different path in mind for him. He landed his first radio internship at KHTS-FM (93.3) in San Diego. After he was given a shot to do a show from 2:00 –6:00 AM (which he did twice), the program director assigned him to host the station’s weekend sponsored parties with a live DJ. Simultaneously, he started working all shifts on a rotating basis (mostly midday and nights). In 2006, J-Si learned that Kidd Kraddick was looking for a new member for their morning show. He e-mailed his audio and was eventually hired when he was just 23-years-old.
Among his community activities, J-Si considers Kidd’s Kids (a youth program established by Kidd Kraddick) to be at the top of his charitable priorities. J-Si enjoys playing the guitar (and learning current songs), football, skateboarding and spending time on his Playstation3 (FIFA and Madden are at the top of that list!). Among his personal achievements, he was voted MVP of his intramural dodgeball league, although he doesn’t discount his “I Voted” sticker among his prestigious accolades. Although he supports his Dallas sports teams, nothing stands between him and his San Diego Chargers.
J-Si considers one of the most life-changing moments of his life thus far to be the day he met his wife, Kinsey (originally from San Diego, they have been together since they were 19-years-old). They currently reside in Dallas with their son, Cason, and daughter, Chloé, along with their dog, Dex (Chihuahua).
