‘IT WAS A HOT MESS’—VIEWERS REACT TO LAST NIGHT’S CHAOTIC & CRINGEWORTHY PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
Wednesday, Sep 30, 2020
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 29: A broadcast of the first debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is played on a TV at The Abbey, which seated patrons at socially distanced outdoor tables, on September 29, 2020 in West Hollywood, California. “It was a hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, inside a trainwreck” were the words CNN’s Jake Tapper used to describe last night’s presidential debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic Nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden. More like a reality TV reunion special, last night’s debate comprised of both candidates clamoring to get a word in edge-wise, Trump’s low-blow insults, and a frustrated moderator, Chris Wallace, who struggled to gain control.

The debate which covered controversial topics like COVID-19, the supreme court, the state of the economy, racism, Trump’s tax troubles, and Biden’s 1994 crime bill scandal, left both candidates throwing verbal punches for the duration of the debate. Viewers took to social media to express their embarrassment over the cringe-worthy debate, including celebrities such as Brie Larson, Ice-T, Jim Gaffigan, Kerry Washington, Gabourey Sidibe and many more.
