Michael B. Jordan’s mentions are in shambles over his new rum brand and the Caribbean massive has No Remorse! After his girlfriend Lori Harvey shared a sneak peek of MBJ’s rum brand named J’Ouvert, the Black Panther star caught backlash for naming it after the traditional Trinidadian Annual Street Party that holds deep and historical cultural significance.
Nicki Minaj, who’s Trinidadian, posted a screenshot of J’Ouvert’s historical significance and said that although MBJ’s appropriation was most likely unintentional, he should change the name to something more appropriate.
I’m sure MBJ didn’t intentionally do anything he thought Caribbean ppl would find offensive— but now that you are aware, change the name & continue to flourish & prosper. 🙏🏾🇹🇹
Michael B. Jordan apologized on behalf of himself and his partners for the cultural oversight and assured that his rum brand will be renamed to something everyone can be proud of.
