Francis Bean Cobain recently sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to promote her upcoming documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, and revealed that when it comes to her father’s band Nirvana, she’s not really a fan!

“I don’t really like Nirvana that much,” she confessed.

“Sorry, promotional people, Universal. I’m more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre. The grunge scene is not what I’m interested in.”

The 22 year old said that she discovered at a young age how important Kurt Cobain‘s legacy is to his fans.

“I was around 15 when I realized he was inescapable,” Francis Bean said.

“Even if I was in a car and had the radio on, there’s my dad. He’s larger than life. And our culture is obsessed with dead musicians. We love to put them on a pedestal.”

She also pointed out that in the eyes of his fans, Kurt Cobain will forever be 27-years-old.

“The shelf life of an artist or musician isn’t particularly long,” she went on. “Kurt has gotten to icon status because he will never age. He will always be that relevant in that time and always be beautiful.”

Montage of Heck will be released in select theaters on April 24 and will air on HBO on May 4.
