Ironically, Watts is currently promoting Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) — a film in which she plays an actress named Leslie who is about to make her Broadway debut and will do anything to make sure nothing interferes with the show.
During a recent interview, Watts, 46, opened up about her Broadway fears:
“It’s a dream of mine and there’s a little bit of fear there, I have to admit,” she explained. “But I will have to break through that fear at some point.”
But let’s not forget Watts’ partner of nearly 10 years, Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber, has starred in many Broadway shows — but the insider tells Dish she’s “too proud” to ask him for advice or help.
“It may seem weird, but Naomi is far more comfortable confiding in and seeking advice about Broadway from Neil than Liev,” added the source.
“She’s such an accomplished actress in her own right, and the last thing she wants is Liev to put his reputation on the line for her Broadway dreams — she’s embarrassed. Not to mention, he’s been so busy with Ray Donovan, and distanced from the theater scene lately because of the show.”
The insider continued, “Neil just came off a Broadway stint, where he won a Tony for his role as Hedwig, so he’s still in the theater mode.
“Naomi and Neil have been emailing back and forth on what type of role she should seek out. Neil’s been reaching out to his Broadway connections for Naomi as well, and she hopes to have something lined up in the near future!”
