After a few sleepless nights of election-induced anxiety, narrow margins, Twitter tantrums, and endless memes, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate and the first woman on a presidential ticket, Senator Kamala Harris, have finally been declared the elected President and Vice President of the United States.
This wraps up a long week of Biden and Donald Trump battling for the lead with crucial outcomes in the swing states. Trump proved victorious in Florida and Texas with a lead in North Carolina, while Biden snagged Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota with growing leads in Nevada, Pennsylvania, and the historically red state of Georgia that hasn’t been blue since Bill Clinton in ’92.
Fulfilling his promise to select a woman as his running mate, Biden hand-pickedΒ Harris as his VP back in August making her the first black woman to appear on a major ticket and now, the first in the White House.
I have the great honor to announce that Iβve picked @KamalaHarris β a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the countryβs finest public servants β as my running mate.

After the remaining ballots sealed the deal for a Biden-Harris victory, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris sent a tweet, solidifying her commitment to serving “the soul of America.”
This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. Itβs about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Letβs get started.pic.twitter.com/Bb9JZpggLN
