Saturday Night Live caused some controversy over the weekend with a skit joking about an extremist group known for its Internet videos of the beheadings of soldiers, civilians, journalists, and aid workers.
The sketch parodied Toyota’s “My Bold Dad” Super Bowl ad, which showed a proud father driving his daughter to the airport as she begins her hitch in the U.S. Army. But instead, host Dakota Johnson gets dropped off to join the violent rebel organization, ISIS.
Twitter was divided, some considering the subject matter tasteless, while others finding the skit edgy.
