Demi Lovato will be rocking the cover for Latina Magazine for the June/July 2016 issue. In an interview with Latina, Demi puts aside the fame and the glam to reveal her true self.

“I have yet to reach my peak, and also, my voice is better now than it was a year ago. Now I can show people what I can do.”

Demi touched upon her music career stating that she doesn’t care about radio hits because, “When you try hard for that, it doesn’t happen.” In fact, she confessed she gets tired of singing her famous songs “Give Your Heart A Break” and “Confident.” Her favorite is “Stone Cold.”

Lovato has been the protagonist of scandals dealing with drug addictions and eating disorders, but now she proves that a new Demi has emerged, and is ready for her new summer tour: Future Now, with Nick Jonas. She looks radiant and healthy as ever!

One thing to be admired of Demi is the confidence with which she expresses to the world what she really thinks.

“I’m definitely passionate about the things I believe in.”

In a recent tweet, she admitted to prefer honesty over being fake.

She also hinted that there’s way more to her life than what we assume we know. And while we’re not sure if the motives of these rants are linked to her ‘feud’ with Nicki Minaj, we sure know this ‘chica’ knows how to defend herself!

She also wasn’t afraid to say in her interview that her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama (Colombian/Venezuelan) has been way more passionate than her past relationships with white guys.

“Maybe that’s just Wilmer. But I do believe that Latin people are just more expressive, more passionate with their emotions. He’s very manly, and he can be stubborn like Latino men can, but he’s protective and he cares so much and loves so hard. I’ve been blessed enough to have him in my life, and not just as my man, but also my best friend.”

And speaking of her view of Latin people, she went on describing her relationship with Wilmer’s mother, who only speaks Spanish!

“His mom teaches me to cook. She showed me how to make arepas,”

In case you didn’t know, Demi is of Mexican descent and a couple of years ago, she expressed to the Huffington Post, how proud she is to be a Latina and that she embraces her identity.

“I’m really proud of [my heritage], especially the way that the Latin community is kind of taking over and rising above politically,” she said. “Even though I don’t speak fluent Spanish, I love singing in Spanish. I love being able to represent the curvy sassiness of a Latina woman. It’s just a part of who I am, and I couldn’t be more proud to represent that.”

Not surprisingly, she also mentioned to have been inspired by the legendary, Selena Quintanilla, like many other artists!

Lovato proves to us she’s not only a celebrity but a real person with real feelings.

“When I say goodbye to somebody, I tell them I love them, if I do,” “I make sure to hug them. I make sure to look at them like it’s the last time I’ll ever see them.”

She is a true reflection of a Latina warrior, standing strong despite her troubles.

“There’s a lot of pain that I experienced over the past year, and I’m so ready to write about it,” she claims“I’ve stayed sober through it all, I’m a stronger person, but it’s definitely been a very painful year.”

What a better way than to heal the wounds through music? We can’t wait to hear her new content!
