It’s gettin’ real in these comedic streets!
Dave Chappelle was performing for Netflix is a Joke: The Festival at the Hollywood Bowl in LA last night when he was attacked by an unruly fan on stage, who has since been named as 23-year-old Isaiah Lee. After Dave finished his set, Lee rushed the stage with a knife blade, LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli confirmed, CNN reports.
“A famous comedian was performing at the Hollywood Bowl. He had finished his act and as he was exiting the stage, a male who was part of the audience jumped on the stage and tackle(d) this celebrity to the ground,” Officer Lizeth Lomeli said.
Of course, audience members captured video footage of the man charging the stage. In a video shared by Twitter user @abazar, you can see the moment Lee attacked Dave. In a video posted by The Neighborhood Talk, Lee is shown being taken into an ambulance and treated for injuries, which appear to include an arm injury.

Also reportedly, Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes jumped in to help Dave fight off the attacker. Chris Rock—who was recently slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars—was also performing that night and jokingly asked on stage, ‘Was that Will Smith?” Entertainment Weekly reported.
