Despite getting slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars, comedian Chris Rock continues to keep it light and classy.
During night two of the Boston stop of his Ego Death comedy tour, Chris addressed the Oscars slapping incident head-on without calling Will Smith by name. However, the crowd being a bit rowdier than the night before, a heckler yelled out “F*** Will Smith” to which Chris quickly responded “no, no, no”—stopping the heckler in their tracks. Security stepped in and tossed out the heckler and others who were interrupting Chris’ show.
“A couple times people yelled out ‘Will Smith,’” a ticket holder told New York Post—with another one recounting, “The guy was saying ‘F–k Will Smith.’ There were a lot of ‘F–k Will Smiths.’”
One of the kicked-out hecklers told the outlet that “all we did was interact and respond to the comedian…they are so afraid that someone is going to say something that they kicked us out before we could.” Despite all the drama surrounding the Oscars slap snafu, Chris managed to tell a joke alluding to the incident. According to another ticketholder Chris said, “is that Oscars security?” when the hecklers were tossed out.
Chris also lightly addressed the incident for the first time since it happened during the first stop in Boston, telling the crowd that he’s still processing what happened at the Oscars.
