Q – Who is your favorite actor to double for, and why?
A – I have a great relationship with Chris Hemsworth, who I have worked with on the past four movies. He’s now a friend, a superb actor and all-around great guy.
Q – Have you ever been injured on set? If so, what happened?
A – I have had knocks and bangs on set for sure – it is part of the job, the nature of the beast I guess! While working on Green Lantern (doubling for Ryan Reynolds), I sustained a back injury where I ruptured and herniated the L4 and L5 disc. That injury definitely took a bit of time to get over.
Q – Have you ever dated an actress? Who?
A – I dated an actress on a UK soap-opera called Eastenders when I was 19 (and she was 33 at the time!). We met in a Christmas pantomime show and actually got engaged – but it didn’t work out in the end so we went our separate ways.
Q – What celebrity have you met in some capacity that turned out to be nothing like you imagined, and why?
A – Christian Bale was one of the nicest and most professional people I have ever met and worked with. Before I had met him I read some online gossip, so I was a bit worried before doubling him on the Dark Knight Rises. Once I had the pleasure of working with him, I learned he is genuinely an amazing guy.
Q – Without naming numbers, who makes more — you as a movie stunt double, or a Registered Nurse (average $67,930/year)? You as a stunt double, or a general physician ($184,596/year)?
A – We do very, very well… We get paid danger money but with that also comes lots of risk! Wow, our nurses are so important and should be making more money!
Q – Have you worked with any actors who prefer to do their own stunts?
A – Actors these days are so athletic and can do most of their own stunts anyway! Two that particularly stand out to me are Chris Hemsworth and Channing Tatum, as they are very physical.
Q – What’s the most dangerous stunt you’ve ever performed for a movie?
A – I had to do a 100ft high fall on The Dark Knight Rises. The high fall came in the scene where Bruce Wayne is climbing out of the prison after Bane breaks his back. That is definitely one of my stunts that stands out. Another one would have to be the roof top sequence in Quantum of Solace where I am chasing the Mitchell (the bad guy) across the roof tiles about 140ft high!
Q – What upcoming projects do you have on your plate right now?
A – I have been working on the new Star Wars, Alice in Wonderland 2, Tarzan and Game of Thrones before starting a new project with Chris Hemsworth in the New Year. I am also continuing my partnership with Dove Men+Care, the amazing grooming brand that offers products in personal wash, deodorant, hair and skin care – they keep me looking and smelling fresh on set every day!
Q – Dish or Dat — Superman or Batman? Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande? Courtney Cox or Jennifer Aniston? Amanda Bynes or Lindsay Lohan? ‘Scandal’ or ‘American Horror Story’? ‘Star Trek’ or ‘Star Wars’? JLo’s booty or Nicki Minaj’s booty? Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian?
Batman, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Anniston, Lindsay Lohan, American Horror Story, Star Wars, JLo and Kim Kardashian!
