AVA DUVERNAY’S NETFLIX MINISERIES ‘WHEN THEY SEE US’ SNAGS 16 EMMY NOMINATIONS
Tuesday, Jul 16, 2019

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, announced live by The Good Place’s D’arcy Carden and Crazy Rich Asians’ Ken Jeong, unveiled this year’s nominations and while heavy hitters like HBO’s Game of Thrones (32) and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (20) racked up much should be said about the Best Limited Series category which catapulted Ava Duvernay and Netflix’s riveting four-part miniseries, When They See Us, as a force to be reckoned with. Snagging 19 Emmys noms this year, the miniseries tells the searing stories of Korey Wise, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Antron McCray and Kevin Richardson—formerly and collectively known as The Central Park Five. Jharrel Jerome, who beautifully portrayed Korey Wise, earned his first ever Emmy for the miniseries. When They See Us will compete against Chernobyl (19), Fosse/Verdon (17), Escape at Dannemora (4) and Sharp Objects (3).

The Emmys will take place on Sept. 22nd at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will premiere on Fox. Will you be tuning in? See the full list of noms below!
