ANOTHER BIOPIC! GLORIA TREVI MOVIE TO PREMIERE IN THE US NEXT YEAR
Wednesday, Oct 8, 2014
There seems to be quite an appetite for biopics these days. We all know Aaliyah and Whitney Houston will soon be the subjects of two Lifetime films but now there’s another that just got acquired to run in theaters in the US.
It’s about someone many consider to be the Madonna of Mexican music: Gloria Trevi. Just like Madonna, Gloria Trevi was one of the few pop singers to tackle sexuality and other “difficult” topics openly in her music.
Picturehouse has acquired the rights to the biopic titled GLORIA. It tells the “true story” of Gloria Trevi’s rise to fame as a singer as well as her many legal troubles, which included accusations of kidnapping and sexually abusing minors. Gloria Trevi spent four years in a prison in Brazil before being released for lack of evidence.
Spoiler alert: You’d think that would ruin someone’s career, but Gloria has released 4 studio albums since then! Gloria Trevi has actually managed to overcome her troubles and at least for now, seems to be headed for “happily ever after.”
Here’s a look at Sofia Espinoza, the actress that plays Gloria in the movie. In this interview she talks about how excited she’s to tackle this role!
Gloria Trevi is reportedly not very thrilled about her life coming to theaters, but she’s also getting a chance to tell her own side of the story as she stars in a new reality docu-soap that recently premiered on Mun2: “A Toda Gloria.”
Here’s a look at the trailer for her TV show:
